Some breastplates are made from all leather, while others may include sections made of elastic fabric to allow better fitting. One of the most popular show jumping breastplates is the Silver Crown Liberty Pro Breastplate. It is made from English Leather with a simple and classic design. Several different kinds of martingale attachments (also called forks) are available.
Breeches
Quite possibly, breeches are the most important part of the costume. It is important that the breeches fit well, offer optimum grip with flexibility. Today’s riders demand high performance from their fabric. That is why we are very picky when it comes to selecting breeches for our customers. From Euro Star to Equiline to For Horses to Horze , you will find it all here. Dressage riders always opt for the Full Seat Breeches. Show jumping riders pick the Knee Patch Breeches. With so many different styles to select from, a lot of the decision boils down to what fits you the best. No too women are built identical. Therefore, it is all the more important to offer a large variety of riding pants. Check out the latest “push up” pants from For Horses. These breeches are the #1 seller at the Winter Equestrian Festival (Wellington) 2015-16 circuit.
Bridles
Bridles form a very critical piece of tack. They serve for controlling the horse’s movements. Both dressage and show jumping bridles are available in a wide variety of designs and finish. Show jumping bridles can be easily customized with many different nosebands. Some examples are drop noseband, Figure 8 Noseband, Flash Noseband, Silver Crown produces bridles that can be easily built. Their create-a-bridle concept allows you to pick a headpiece, pick a noseband to create your own bridle. You can easily swap out the nosebands for different horses as needed. With this system, you can create many different bridles.
Competition Shirts
Competition Shirts are often also called show shirts. It is a broad category covering shirts to be worn when competing. The show shirts differ in styles and form depending on the riding discipline. Dressage Show Shirts are completely different in style and form than show jumping show shirts. Even the hunter show shirts are different as well. Equitation show shirts are yet another class of show shirts. Dressage show shirts usually come adorned with bling and crystals. Show shirts for the jumpers may have some bling as well. However, they are more conservative in general than dressage show shirts.
Girths
Girths are used to secure the saddle on the horse’s back. Sometimes, girths are also used for adjusting the saddle’s position. Dressage Girths are significantly different than show jumping girths. A wide variety of girths are available. Some offer elastic on both ends. Belly guard girths are used for show jumping. Hunters use special girths that are lined with fleece. Girth sizes vary from 46″ to 54″ for show jumping. Dressage girths are much shorter, ranging from 22″ to 28″. Dressage Saddles are cut much longer and have longer billets, hence the shorter girths.

Leg & Hoof Care
Leg and Hoof Care forms a critical piece of the equipment for riding. This includes, but not limited to, tendon boots, hind boots, pressure boots, bandages, wraps, ice boots, bandages etc. Tendon Boots, also called Front Boots are used for show jumping. Dressage riders instead use the Dressage Sport Boots (“DSB”). Specially shaped hind boots are used for encouraging the horse to lift its hind legs higher when jumping over a fence. It is very important that the boots be fitted correctly. This ensures full comfort and performance for the horse. Wraps and bandages are used for turnout. Different kinds of bandages are used depending on application. There are 2 main kinds of bandages: Work Bandages and Stable Bandages. They come in a set of 2 pairs. Normally, you would need to purchase 2 packages of such bandages for each horse. Equiline’s Quilted Leg Wraps are very popular for therapy use. They are available as a Set of 4. Riding Boots
Riding Boots are an integral part of the rider’s gear. It is very important to find tall boots that are well-fitted. Otherwise, the rider will have sores and their riding experience will not be optimal. Riding boots can be off-the-shelf (also called ready-to-wear) or custom (made to measure). Tucci for example offers both options for all their riding boots. There is a ready-to-wear boot by Tucci for Dressage as well as multiple different models for Show Jumping Tall Boots. The Tucci Boots are traditional and built to last. Tucci’s bestselling models are the Harley Tall Boots and the Marilyn Tall Boots. Marilyn is available in a few different combinations of patent and regular leather. A new trend for tall boots is the combination of half-chaps that attach to the paddock boots. Freejump was the first to create such a system. Other bootmakers have since followed suite. For example, Tucci offers its bestselling tall boots in the Harl Paddock Boots and Harl Half Chaps combination. With this combination system, you get the best of both worlds. The half chaps are soft and not as stiff as the tall boots. So the break-in period is quicker. They look like tall boots so…
Saddle Pads
Saddle Pads are placed under the saddle on the horse’s back for providing cushioning. Some saddle pads are also meant to be used as correction pads for compensating for a saddle that does not fit perfectly. One of the most notable half pads used within both the jumper and hunter rings is the Ogilvy Half Pad. The pad is made from memory foam which conforms to the shape of the horse’s back while providing adequate cushioning.
Shadbellies
Shadbellies are primarily used by the dressage and hunter riders. However, these two styles of shadbellies are not interchangeable. Where the hunter shadbellies are shorter and more plain looking, their dressage counterparts are flashy and longer in length. A “shad” is often also called “tails” or even a “tailcoat”. In dressage competition, the shadbelly is required of riders competing in the high level tests, such as Grand Prix. Lower level tests do not require (allow) the use of shadbellies. In its simplest form, a rider and his/her mount must move up the levels of dressage competition to be bestowed upon this honor. The same general rules apply to the hunter ring as well.
Short Coats
